The hunting season for badgers has started in Tatarstan.

      In Tatarstan, the hunting season for badgers officially started today and will last until the end of October, specifically until the 31st. This was reported by representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Biological Resources. The agency reminded hunters of the existing strict rules. It is categorically prohibited to destroy or dig up permanent burrows, especially those that serve badgers for breeding. An exception to this rule is made only in one case: if it is necessary to partially excavate a burrow to free a hunting dog stuck there. However, after the rescue operation, the damaged areas of the burrow must be completely restored and filled with soil. The use of standard restraining traps with metal arches designed to capture the animal's paws is also prohibited. In amateur and sport hunting for badgers, it is not allowed to use long-barreled rifled firearms, as well as rifled barrels of combined hunting rifles if their caliber exceeds 8 millimeters. In addition, it is strictly forbidden to use snares, pneumatic hunting weapons, nets, and any other traps made from net materials for hunting badgers.
