Just a little heavier person, like me, and we're all flying down together," said resident Yulia Mamochkina. Although Yulia Mamochkina was in the neighboring entrance, the crash was heard throughout the building. The staircase literally gave way under her neighbor's feet; the woman is currently recovering. It ended with just a scare and a bruise; she managed to grab the railing in time. "I think it started with this entrance, then, most likely, it will be ours and the third, and so on, the whole building will follow," said resident Yulia Mamochkina. Currently, a rather elegant improvised wooden ladder with enhanced comfort steps has been installed at the site of the gaping hole in the basement. The only question is how long this novelty will last and when a full concrete staircase will appear here. Residents have long feared that the building would collapse before their eyes; they have contacted the management company, asking for their house to be declared emergency. According to them, there is plenty of evidence. The house, built in 1977, has a constantly flooding basement. "The basement leaks endlessly, it leaks endlessly. They say a truck came twice — they pumped it out," recalls resident Nakiya Nigmatullina. The roof is leaking as well, and the walls on the 9th floor are soaked through with water. The railings at the exit from the entrance are particularly practical. As we can see, this is just an ordinary plastic pipe, where a good part is held up by good faith. In May, the State Housing Inspection of Tatarstan inspected the building. At that time, the staircase in the third entrance was in critical condition and was reinforced. "As a result of the inspection, the management company was held administratively liable. As for the staircase in the third entrance, which was complained about, it was reinforced with metal structures, which allowed us to solve the safety problem. The situation in building 14 is currently under special control of the Housing Inspection of Tatarstan," said the press secretary of the State Housing Inspection of the Republic of Tatarstan, Albina Batyrshina. The Prosecutor's Office of the Moscow District has also organized an inspection. "The supervisory authority will assess the actions of the management company of the Moscow district of Kazan regarding compliance with the legal requirements for the maintenance of common property. The restoration of citizens' rights is under the control of the prosecutor's office," commented the senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan for interaction with the media and the public, Adelya Gaynutdinova. The management company of the Moscow district stated that the staircase in the first entrance will be restored by August 24. "Previously, during visual inspections, visible damage was absent. Cracks and deformations were not recorded. No complaints from residents of entrance number 1 were received. Work has been carried out to strengthen the load-bearing parts of the second and third entrances," said Igor Solyanov, deputy director of the "Management Company of the Moscow District."

      Major repairs in the building are only planned for 15 years from now. According to the Kazan administration, a commission has been created to investigate the incident and determine the causes of the collapse.
