      A kickboxing center has opened today at the premises of the multidisciplinary Lyceum No. 170 in Kazan – a modern sports facility for the development of mass sports and the training of professional athletes. The mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, participated in the opening ceremony. "Today is a historic event for Kazan. Our city has many sports facilities and centers. For example, there are boxing centers, table tennis centers, and fencing centers. And today we have a kickboxing center. It is great that it is located on the school grounds," said Linar Garipov, chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kazan Executive Committee, to journalists. He emphasized that this is one of the first sports facilities located on the premises of a general education school. "Sports schools are present in 117 schools. There are sports clubs and sections in general education schools. But such a center is the first. The hockey rink and workout area have also been updated on the school grounds," noted Garipov. According to him, previously there was a shooting range in the building where the kickboxing center is now located. "We want such sports centers to appear on school grounds. We will analyze where else we can open sports centers on the premises of general education schools," he stated. A major renovation was carried out in the vacant building, which was performed by the contractor "STK" since September of last year. More than 75 million rubles were allocated for the work. The workers completely updated the roof, flooring, walls, and facade, replaced heating, electricity, water supply, and sewage networks. Additionally, they equipped a drainage system in the basement and laid external engineering networks. Professional equipment was purchased for training: a ring, boxing bags and mitts, medicine balls, and other gear. "All engineering networks were completely replaced. There was a problem with the heating system, and ventilation was installed. A lot of work was done on waterproofing the basement because underground groundwater flows nearby. Plus, we changed the system to make it convenient to flood the hockey box. Therefore, it turned out not to be as expensive as building a separate sports facility. There are excellent changing rooms, good exercise machines, overhead equipment, and a ring. Overall, better conditions have been created than even in fitness clubs. I think this will be a point of attraction," Garipov noted. Training will be conducted by titled athletes and experienced coaches, including Master of Sports of Russia Rustem Zinatullin and multiple competition winner Oleg Morozov. "The most important thing is the coaches who are ready to work not only with children but also with adults. There will be a club system here, where adults can also come and engage in sports. The coverage is very serious – Novosavinovsky, Aviastroitelny, and Moskovsky districts," Garipov informed. He specified that more than 100 children will train at the center, and within the club system, up to 200 people daily. Currently, 107 students have been enrolled in the kickboxing department. A training group of 10 people has been formed, and recruitment for beginner groups is ongoing – with 25-30 participants in each. After the initial training phase, a group of 10 ranked athletes aged 15-16 will be formed. A total of 180 people are planned to train at the lyceum under the guidance of three coaches.

      In Kazan, kickboxing departments operate at 20 venues across the city. Under the guidance of 19 coaches, 350 athletes are training. There are four budget departments and 16 commercial gyms. An expansion of the network is planned: the number of coaches will increase to 29, and the number of participants will rise to 700 people. New venues are planned to be opened at schools No. 147, 130, 57, 111, 51, 150, as well as in the sports complex "Fizra."
