In Kazan, the planning project for the second metro line to Berezovaya Rosha has begun.

      In Kazan, work has begun on the planning project for the second metro line from the station "100th Anniversary of TASSR" to "Birch Grove." This follows from the resolution of the executive committee of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The project is expected to be prepared by May 25, 2027. Specialists will identify elements of the planning structure, establish the boundaries of the metro line zones, and determine the sequence of development of the street and road network. According to the documents, the first four stations of the new line are planned to be developed with tunneling towards the Universiade Village and RKB, and then to the СНТ "Birch Grove." Such plans were previously discussed at GUP "Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt" (TIGP). In November 2025, the further prospects for the construction of the new metro line in Kazan became a subject of discussion. The question was raised: to continue the second line from Azino to the Quarter or to build it to the city center. In August, the first deputy head of the State Construction Supervision of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilfart Safiullin, reported that the deadline for the first phase of the second line of the Kazan metro had been pushed back. The first phase is planned to be commissioned in 2027. It was previously reported that the first four stations are expected to be completed in 2030.

      Recall that the first segment of the second line of the Kazan metro — four stations with tunnels totaling 5.7 km — has been under construction since July 2019. Dmitry Krasnov, head of the "Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt" department and chief engineer of the Kazan metro project, reported that the cost of constructing the first segment of the second line will be 41 billion rubles. Another 6 billion will be spent on relocating networks and constructing bypass roads.

      The second metro line will connect five city districts: Privolzhsky, Soviet, Novo-Savinovsky, Moskovsky, and Kirovsky. The first section will stretch for 5.37 km and will include four stations: "100th Anniversary of TASSR" (on Yulius Fuchik Street); "Academic" (intersection of Fuchik and Zavoysky Streets); "Zilant" (intersection of Fuchik and Lomzhinskaya Streets) and "Tulpar" (intersection of Victory Avenue and Academician Sakharov Street). At the beginning of the month, it became known that construction work on the first section of the second metro line has been completed by 46%.
