The jury of "Altyn Minbar" highly praised the inclusiveness of the competition program.

      A meeting of the jury members with journalists took place in the press center of the Kazan International Film Festival “Altyn Minbar”. This was reported by the press service of the State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “TatarKino.”

      The jury included the chairperson – director, sound engineer, sound designer, and Oscar winner for the film “Slumdog Millionaire,” Resul Pukutti (India); the chairman of the Omani Film Society and a member of the General Union of Arab Artists, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ajmi (Sultanate of Oman); and the art director and artistic director of the company U Hunlian (China).

      Also among the jury members were producer, director and screenwriter, head of the Animation Department at the Moscow State Institute of Culture, and member of the Guild of Directors of the Russian Federation, Sergey Strusovsky (Russia); Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan and head of the “Center for Youth and Children with Disabilities,” Rano Shodiyeva (Uzbekistan); as well as director, screenwriter and producer Mohammad Ali Sajjadi (Iran).

      Jury chairperson Resul Pukutti noted that the competition program is inclusive in nature and brings together participants from around the world. He emphasized that it is a great honor for him to be in the capital of Tatarstan, and that each of the presented films leaves a strong emotional impression, touching on important contemporary issues.

      Pukutti expressed admiration for the richness of the regional cinematic heritage and wished “long life to cinema and its 24 frames per second.” He also stated his respect for Russian culture and noted that Tatarstan is a unique example of harmonious coexistence of different religions, which is especially important for cultural diversity.

      Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ajmi said he was glad to be part of the festival and highly appreciated the selection of films from different countries. He was particularly impressed by the works of filmmakers from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which, in his opinion, masterfully reflect the cultural traditions and identity of their peoples.

      U Hunlian expressed interest in strengthening international cooperation and emphasized that the animation competition is of particular interest to him.

      He said he is working on an animated film called “Pangé,” whose main character will be a panda, and noted that participating in the festival gives him the opportunity to show interim results and establish contacts with colleagues in the animation industry.

      Sergey Strusovsky drew attention to the fact that the animation competition program is professionally significant for him. He explained that he is constantly searching for films that could be used in educational activities with students.

      According to him, turning an idea into an image on the screen always remains a miracle, and the jury’s task is to objectively determine the winner, despite the fact that there is only one prize for “Best Animated Film.”

      Rano Shodiyeva expressed gratitude to the organizers for the film selection and noted that the documentaries and short films presented in the program open up a remarkable world of the producing countries to viewers. She emphasized the high quality and substance of the films.

      Mohammad Ali Sajjadi called the work of a jury member a complex and multifaceted process that requires not only knowledge and experience, but also the ability to remain objective. He noted that the festival atmosphere and interactions with colleagues influence the decision-making process.

      He particularly values the opportunity to get acquainted with Eastern cinema, as in his work he mainly interacts with Western projects.

      The 21st Kazan International Film Festival “Altyn Minbar” is taking place from September 5 to 9 in the capital of Tatarstan under the motto “Through the dialogue of cultures — to the culture of dialogue.”

      The forum is included in the list of film projects supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture and is being held with the support of the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Russian Ministry of Culture, and the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World.”
