Its ceremonial unveiling is scheduled for tomorrow. Lieutenant Colonel Chebnev, with the call sign "Otmel," held the heroic defense of Malaya Loknya for 12 days with the forces of three regiments. On August 18 last year, when an enemy landing force attempted to establish a foothold in the rear of our units, "Otmel" personally led a counterattack, giving the order to break through to his own troops. At the cost of his life, Chebnev stopped the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine toward the Kursk NPP and saved about 300 fighters. Sergey Chebnev was posthumously awarded the title Hero of Russia. His Gold Star was presented to his widow by President Vladimir Putin. Sergey Chebnev is a graduate of School No. 56. A bust of him has now been installed in the school's courtyard. Sergey Chebnev also became the 12th serviceman whose bust has been installed on the Alley of Heroes in Victory Park in Naberezhnye Chelny. The school where the serviceman studied plans to open a museum. Chebnev's memory is also preserved in Kaliningrad, where his family now lives. School No. 24 bears his name, and one of the city's streets will soon be named in honor of the hero. A monument to the hero is also planned to be erected on the embankment in Kurchatov.
