According to the zoo specialists, the baby was born right before the eyes of visitors during a guanaco walk. The birth went smoothly, and the assistance of zoologists was not required.

At the Kazan Zoo "Zambezi River," there is joyful news – a pair of guanacos welcomed a baby. The little one was born on July 7 right in the exhibition enclosure, and happy visitors witnessed this touching moment. "In the first months, she will enjoy delicious mother's milk and gradually switch to plant food. The family will have to carefully guard their little treasure – guanacos are rare animals listed in the International Red Book," the zoo's press service reported. The newborn already has an older sister named Lulu. The birth occurred naturally, without the intervention of zoologists, the message stated. It is worth mentioning that this is not the only recent addition to the zoo. At the end of June, two spotted fawns (a girl and a boy) and a zebra were born here, which has already become the third offspring of this species to appear in the new "Zambezi River" territory. Last year, zebras named Chamomile and Sun were born here. According to "BUSINESS Online," in recent years, 134 babies have been born at the Kazan Zoo, including ring-tailed lemurs, Brawa monkeys, Nile lechwe, and white-bellied hedgehogs. Particularly prolific were the ungulates – during this period, 28 Cameroon goats, 52 domestic sheep, and three rare breed goats were born. In March of last year, the sheep family was supplemented with six black-and-white lambs. The birth of the guanaco baby is a significant event not only for the zoo but also for the conservation of this rare species. In the wild, the population of guanacos inhabiting South America continues to decline due to poaching and habitat loss.
