KAMAZ expects truck sales in Russia to grow in 2027.
The Russian truck market is currently in a phase of declining sales; however, an increase in the number of trucks sold can be expected as early as next year. This was stated by Alexander Migal, the director of the marketing analysis department of PJSC "KAMAZ." "If we look at the Russian market, we need to understand that it is very cyclical, and the length of this cycle takes six to seven years. Today, we are on the descending side of this hill, so nothing strange is happening," Migal said. Nevertheless, he noted positive trends in the market and highlighted several factors that will positively affect truck sales in the future. "Moving to the positive side, we can say that starting from the second half of 2025, we will observe a stable decline in the rate of market decline and hope that the market will break its trend and start to recover," he emphasized. Another factor that significantly affects the Russian market, Migal mentioned, is the aging fleet. "The phenomenon is that despite abnormal purchases in 2023-2024, 42% of the market consists of vehicles older than 15 years. That is over 800,000 vehicles. And this forms our vision that there is light at the end of the tunnel," he said. According to the expert's forecasts, sales will begin to gain momentum after a reduction in the key rate by at least 2-3 percentage points. "[A rate of] 15% does not change much in the world picture. A rate of 12-13% will start to positively influence market dynamics. And even then, not immediately. Because the economy will need time to gain momentum. We expect that a new supercycle of market development will begin in 2027," he concluded.
