      Changes to traffic rules regarding personal mobility devices are planned to be prepared by July 2026. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Artem Sheikin, the deputy chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy under the Federation Council. According to him, work is currently underway to update the traffic rules, and the problem has already been noted by the President of Russia. The Ministry of Transport has been instructed to prepare possible options for changes by July 1. Sheikin clarified that the agency, together with relevant structures, is working on the document and expressed confidence that the deadlines will be met. The amendments will affect electric scooters, electric bicycles, mopeds, and unicycles. The main goal of the changes is to organize the movement of such vehicles in the traffic flow. Sheikin noted that, in his opinion, electric bicycles should primarily move in designated bike lanes, and in their absence, on the far right lane of the road. He also believes it is necessary to limit the use of such transport in places with large crowds of people.

      Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to consider the possibility of restricting the movement of electric bicycles on sidewalks.
