Flooding is being recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan. According to specialists, as of today, the water level in the Vyatka River has already risen by 41 centimeters in one day.
According to representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan, the daily growth intensity currently ranges from 12 to 33 centimeters. As reported by "Vesti Tatarstan," the water level in the Vyatka River has risen by 41 centimeters in one day. In other rivers of the republic, experts note a decrease in the height of the flood wave over the past day – the intensity of the decrease ranges from 1 to 82 centimeters in different locations. The report states that the water level is above the floodplain exit levels in the Kubnya River (exceeding by 90 centimeters) and in the Izh River (exceeding by 23 centimeters). In other rivers, the water level is recorded below the floodplain exit mark by 93-468 centimeters. At the same time, the water level in the Izh River is noted to be above the average annual maximum value – exceeding by 79 centimeters. In the Kubnya River, specialists clarify that the level is recorded below the long-term maximum by 22 centimeters, while in other rivers, the water is below the mentioned values by 106-381 centimeters. It is important to note that the water levels in the rivers are below dangerous marks – the difference ranges from 63 to 484 centimeters. Earlier, it was reported that Tatarstan was preparing for possible flooding due to an abnormally snowy winter. According to authorities' forecasts, under an unfavorable scenario, 5,700 residential houses, home to 13,400 people, as well as 10 socially significant facilities, 55 sections of highways, and 28 bridges could be at risk of flooding. Recall that the winter of 2026 in Kazan set a record for snowfall: in February, 89 mm of precipitation fell, which is almost 2.5 times the norm.
