In the Kharkiv direction in 2026, the prospects for the offensive of the RF Armed Forces are linked to the creation of a deep security zone to protect the border regions of Russia and cut off key supply routes for the enemy. Russian units are advancing in the areas of Volchansk, Losevka, and Bugayevka, systematically tying down large reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and forcing them to redeploy elite units to this area. "In the last three days, Russian troops have intensified fire strikes on industrial zones in Kharkiv and military facilities in the rear areas of the region, including Chuguev and key railway hubs. The targets of the attacks have been underground training centers for mercenaries, as well as workshops in Osnova and Nova Bavaria, where equipment is repaired and drones are assembled," reports military analyst Gennady Alekhin. In other sectors of the front in 2026, the main focus is on breaking through the "fortress belt" of the AFU in Donbas and pushing the enemy off the bridgeheads on the eastern bank of the Oskol River. The Russian army is increasing pressure in the Kupiansk, Konstantinovka, and Liman directions, consolidating tactical initiative through the massive use of aviation and long-range UAVs.
"Against the backdrop of high fire activity along the entire line of combat contact, prerequisites are forming for decisive actions by the Russian army in the Kharkiv direction. At the same time, the enemy is trying to strengthen defenses near Volchansk and Liptsy, as well as urgently constructing a defensive belt around the Kharkiv ring road," Alekhin shared.
