The plow festival in Tatarstan can be celebrated three times: first, by having fun in the villages, then heading to the city square the following weekend, and a week later attending the republic-wide Sabantuy. This year, 6,000 hectares of land are being cultivated in the village of Taysuganovo alone. “There are no vacant lands, which is pleasing. Previously, when only a few types of grains were sown, now the farm specializes as a grain and seed farm. Village workers are always in demand. We get up every day, and there is always bread on the table. This bread is essential, and we must always respect and thank agricultural workers for their hard work and never forget them,” said the head of the Taysuganovo rural settlement, Marcel Mustafin. Rasim Sakhidgareevich has been working for the benefit of the village for 64 years. He is practically inseparable from the field and, despite his age, diligently goes to work to this day. “I walk well. I have horses there. I carry feed, I carry water, we feed — and that’s it. I like it, that’s why I walk. At first, I worked in the field, like many young collective farmers, with a horse. Then I worked on a tractor for 12 years. And then I got married, had to look after the household at home, and went to the farm,” shared agricultural worker Rasim Akhmedgareev from the village of Abdrakhmanovo. For many years, Sabantuy has been celebrated in this square by two villages — Abdrakhmanovo and Taysuganovo. Local patrons — the Zalyaev and Takhautdinov families — help organize the holiday. “A river separates the two villages, but Sabantuy has always been a unified event here. For centuries, there has been one holiday for two villages. And this peculiar competition between the two collective farms has also existed for centuries,” noted the deputy head of the AMR, Ramil Zakirov. The celebration of the end of spring field work gathers not only local residents — guests from other districts also come. “Despite the rain and cloudy weather, we came from the neighboring village of Karabash and are happily watching Sabantuy. This is our national holiday. Happy holiday to all of you, friends! First of all, I congratulate all the workers of the village,” said Madina Fattakhova, a resident of the village of Karabash.
