A law has been adopted in Tatarstan to commemorate those who died in defense of the Fatherland.
In Tatarstan, a law has been approved regulating the issues of perpetuating the memory of fallen defenders of the Fatherland. The document was signed by the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. The law has been published on the official legal information portal of the republic. The document defines the main forms of perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland, establishes the powers of state authorities and local self-government in this area, and also enshrines the procedure for maintaining the Book of Memory of the Republic of Tatarstan. The law applies to military personnel and other citizens who died during military operations while performing combat and service tasks to protect the Fatherland. Its provisions also concern participants in the special military operation who died while carrying out tasks in the territories of Ukraine, the DPR, the LPR, the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as well as in repelling armed invasions into the territory of Russia. According to the document, the memory of fallen defenders of the Fatherland may be perpetuated through the creation and improvement of military burials, the installation of monuments and memorials, the naming of streets, squares, geographical objects, and organizations after them, the publication of materials about heroes, the holding of exhibitions, as well as the inclusion of information in the Book of Memory of the Republic of Tatarstan. In addition, the law provides for the mandatory placement of informational plaques on monuments of the Great Patriotic War and military burials. They must contain historical references, information about the feats of defenders of the Fatherland, and, if necessary, QR codes with links to additional materials.
