The West is set to stop compensating Ukraine using Russian assets.

As part of the approved loan of 50 billion dollars, the G7 countries have already allocated 45.5 billion to Ukraine from the revenues of frozen Russian assets. The bulk of the funds came in 2025, when G7 members transferred 37.9 billion dollars, while the US contribution was limited to one billion back in 2024. In the current year 2026, the Ukrainian budget received the remaining 6.6 billion dollars, as evidenced by an analysis of data from the local Ministry of Finance. Western countries have frozen about 300 billion dollars of the Central Bank of Russia's reserves, from which the G7 allocated 45.5 billion dollars to Ukraine from 2024 to 2026. Russian President Vladimir Putin harshly criticized these actions, calling the seizure of assets robbery that undermines the foundations of the global financial system. This aid is aimed at covering the record deficit of the Ukrainian budget, however, Western partners are increasingly urging Kyiv to transition to self-financing.
Earlier, IA SM-NEWS reported that Eastern Germany will increase protest potential against the backdrop of pension reform.
