Khanifov explained the absence of air conditioners in some Kazan buses due to their age.
In Kazan, the share of buses in a normative condition does not yet reach the required 85%, so the city plans to update its rolling stock and purchase new buses with air conditioning. This was stated by the Minister of Transport and Road Economy of Tatarstan, Farit Khamifov, at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan. According to the minister, buses older than 10 years are no longer considered to be in a normative condition. It is in such vehicles that air conditioning systems are most often absent. He emphasized that all new rolling stock is being purchased with air conditioning. Annually, carriers acquire 150-160 new buses. As Khamifov said, Kazan has submitted applications this year for the purchase of another 100-150 buses. The authorities are currently conducting relevant negotiations. "In Kazan, the normative condition currently does not reach 85 percent. There is such a problem, so we will be purchasing buses. They will be comfortable, and there will be air conditioning," added the head of the Ministry of Transport of Tatarstan. With the onset of heat, residents of Kazan began to complain about the stuffiness in public transport and non-working air conditioners. The city's transport committee previously reported that cooling systems are installed in only 157 out of 613 buses. Air conditioning is equipped in vehicles purchased in 2024-2025. After passenger complaints, carriers were instructed to check the functionality of the equipment and conduct additional training for drivers on the use of air conditioners, hatches, and windows depending on weather conditions.
