Tatarstan universities received more than 23.3 thousand budget places for bachelor's, specialist, and master's programs this year. Among them, 550 budget places were allocated to non-state universities. This was announced at a briefing in the House of Government of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilsur Khadiullin. "Over the past three years, the number of budget places has increased by 6%, and in relation to 2025, it has increased by 1%," he said. The head of the Ministry of Education and Science noted that 60% of budget places from their total number are accounted for by three major universities: Kazan Federal University (more than 7.8 thousand), Kazan National Research Technological University (over 4 thousand), and Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev – KAI (more than 2.7 thousand). The minister emphasized that the largest number of budget places is allocated for pedagogy and engineering-technical fields. "These are such large groups as education and pedagogical sciences, computer science and computing technology, electrical and thermal energy, chemical technologies, mechanical engineering, construction technology and other areas," he specified. According to Khadiullin, this distribution by fields of study is generally identical to the previous academic year.
The admission campaign in Russian universities started on June 20. 45 universities in Tatarstan, including 28 state ones, are accepting students for the 2026-2027 academic year.
