Film Festival "Altyn-Minbar": New Horizons and Record Interest

      Kazan is preparing to host one of the most significant cultural events of the year – the Kazan International Film Festival "Altyn-Minbar." This year, the festival is demonstrating impressive growth: over 1000 applications from 66 countries, including three debutants. Nina Kochelayeva, the program director of the Kazan International Film Festival "Altyn-Minbar," spoke about what attracts such a large number of participants and how the festival is developing.

      "Altyn-Minbar" – an open dialogue of cultures

      The speaker emphasized that the key factor for success is the clear positioning of the festival. The festival's motto – "Through the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue" – plays an important role, guiding filmmakers to create works that promote mutual understanding.

      "We pondered for a long time with colleagues about what Muslim cinema actually is. Is it a Muslim theme in cinema or is it the countries of the Islamic world and their cinema? In the end, we decided that the name Golden Minbar – Altyn-Minbar better corresponds to both the ideology of the festival and its motto, and allows us to attract more films from different countries, those films that are aimed at supporting universal human values, related both to traditional values and to the values of completely different religions," said Nina Kochelayeva. She is confident that the new name has made the festival more open and understandable for filmmakers from around the world.

      Tatarstan cinema: on the path to flourishing

      The festival also actively promotes the national cinema of Tatarstan. Nina Kochelayeva noted that Tatarstan cinema is currently experiencing a period of growth and maturation after the crises of the 1990s. The Kazan International Film Festival "Altyn-Minbar" continues to develop, becoming an increasingly significant platform for cultural dialogue and showcasing high-quality cinema from around the world.
