Rehabilitation patients of the "Joy" center made daisies for the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity.
On the eve of the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity, a literary-themed evening titled "Love and Fidelity – Two Wings" took place at the day care department of the Comprehensive Center for Social Services "Joy." The event combined two formats: a poetic salon and a creative workshop on making the main symbol of the holiday – a daisy. The meeting began with an introductory speech by the host, who reminded those present of the history of the holiday's origin, its deep roots in Orthodox tradition, and its inseparable connection with the names of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom. Special emphasis was placed on the fact that love and fidelity are not just words, but actions, patience, and care that each person can demonstrate every day in their family and relationships with loved ones. The main theme of the evening was poetry. Participants, along with the hosts, read and listened to works by Russian classics and contemporary poets celebrating love, devotion, and family warmth. After the literary block, it was time for the creative workshop. Each participant received templates. The task seemed simple: to cut out petals along the lines, twist the core, and assemble the flower. But for people with mental disabilities, this was a real test of patience, coordination, and the ability to follow an algorithm. Specialists from the department were nearby to provide measured assistance. Some required individual demonstrations, while others needed only verbal encouragement, and some worked completely independently, occasionally glancing at the sample. "I didn't think I could make such a beautiful flower. Thank you for your help," shared one participant. Her neighbor added, "I will give my daisy to my mom. She will be happy." Besides the creative aspect, the workshop fulfilled important social rehabilitation tasks: developing visual-motor coordination; training patience and attention concentration; activating communication skills through small group work; strengthening emotional ties with family values and traditions; and forming positive experiences of achieving results. It is important to note that such events are held regularly at the day care department. They not only develop practical skills but also help people with mental disabilities feel included in societal life, maintain interest in creativity and celebrations, and stay emotionally engaged. "The Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity is a reminder that each of us is needed and loved. And our task is to convey this thought to everyone who comes to our classes. Even if it's in the form of a paper flower, but made by hand, from the heart," noted the head of the department.
