      In Nurlat, an inspection of the local operational gas service unit has been completed. The reason for the close attention of the Housing Inspection of Tatarstan was an incident that occurred on June 7: in apartment building No. 2 on Karl Marx Street, a family of four — two adults and two children — suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. The cause of the emergency was a blockage in the chimney: a pigeon had entered the corrugated pipe of the gas column. However, the investigation revealed much more serious systemic problems than just the accidental entry of a bird into the ventilation. Inspectors reviewed the case materials and concluded that the tragedy could have been avoided if the employees of "Nurlatgaz" had diligently fulfilled their direct duties. It turned out that a month and a half before the poisoning, on April 27, scheduled technical maintenance was conducted in this apartment. The specialists noted gross violations but chose to turn a blind eye to them:

      - The gas column was "sealed" in the kitchen unit, completely blocking access for maintenance and violating ventilation rules.

      - There was no door in the kitchen, which is categorically prohibited when operating gas equipment.

      Despite the obvious threat to life, the gas workers took no action: they did not issue an order to eliminate the violations and did not suspend the gas supply. Essentially, the visit of the technician was a formality — a "checkmark" for the sake of a signature on the act. The gas supply to the apartment was only cut off after the people ended up in the hospital. Such negligence indicates a complete lack of safety control by the management of the unit. An administrative case was initiated against the head of the "Nurlatgaz" operational unit under part 1 of article 9.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. As a result, the official was found guilty of improper performance of duties and fined 25,000 rubles.

      This case is a harsh reminder that the maintenance of gas equipment is not a bureaucratic procedure, but a matter of survival. And when responsible parties treat safety formally, the cost of such "work" becomes unacceptably high. The press service of the Housing Inspection of Tatarstan
