In Kazan, the number of cases of cyber fraud has decreased by half.

      In the first half of 2026, Kazan recorded more than 3,800 cases of cyber fraud – almost half as many as in the same period of 2025, when there were about 7,600. This was reported by the director of the Municipal Institution "Kazan City Public Center," Ekaterina Yambarsheva. Positive dynamics are also observed across Tatarstan as a whole. Over six months, the number of fraudulent crimes decreased by 43.3% – from nearly 14,900 to 8,400. The damage caused also decreased: from 2.5 billion to 2.1 billion rubles. Kazan has intensified the prevention of digital fraud. A special section with instructions on account protection and stories from victims has appeared on the "My Kazan" portal. Since the beginning of the year, more than 150 in-person meetings on cybersecurity have been held, reaching over 70,000 people, and preventive content on social media has been viewed by more than 500,000 users. Special attention is given to schoolchildren and elderly people. In the fall, a forum dedicated to current fraud schemes and ways to protect against them is planned for students in Kazan.

      “Digital literacy is not a boring technical issue; it is a matter of our peace of mind,” emphasized Yambarsheva.
