The Geely driver who fatally struck a man on the sidewalk in Chelny has been taken into custody.
A 35-year-old driver of a Geely Coolray, who fatally struck a 65-year-old man on the sidewalk in Naberezhnye Chelny, has been taken into custody. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan. The accident occurred on the morning of August 26 on Kazan Avenue. The driver, at high speed, drove onto the sidewalk, crashed into a bridge railing support, and hit a pedestrian. The latter died from his injuries before the ambulance arrived. The violator was detained at the scene by traffic police officers. An examination showed that the driver was intoxicated, and over the past two years, he had been held administratively responsible for traffic violations 13 times. The city court of Chelny has detained the man until October 26. The arrested individual faces up to 12 years in prison.
