A tender for the construction of a new metro line in Kazan has been posted on the state procurement portal. According to the accompanying documentation, the amount in question is 1.2 billion rubles.
These funds will be used for earthworks, the construction of the upper layer of the railway track and tunnels, as well as artificial structures. It is expected that waterproofing will be carried out at the "100th Anniversary of TASSR" station for the vestibules and platforms. All work is required to be completed by the beginning of December of this year. It is worth noting that in May, 1.9 billion rubles were already allocated for the construction of the same section of the new metro line. At that time, it was stated that the contractor should construct the necessary pits and staircases for the stations, as well as carry out other works. The construction of the first section of the second metro line in the capital of the republic, which will be 5.37 km long, is planned to be completed in 2027. This line includes four stations: "100th Anniversary of TASSR," "Academic," "Zilant," and "Tulpar." In the spring of this year, the right tunnel for the section from the "Academic" station to the "100th Anniversary of TASSR" was completed, which started in 2024. Currently, the construction of a connecting branch with a length of four hundred meters is underway. Its completion is scheduled for next year. According to the general director of Kazan's MUP "Metroelektrotrans," Aidar* Abdulhakov, nine new trains will be purchased for the operation of the second metro line in Kazan – about 6.8 billion rubles will be spent on this, and an expanded depot will be built. Additionally, the second section of the new line is planned to be extended to the Universiade Village and the Republican Clinical Hospital. Preliminary project work is currently underway, which includes the collection of initial data and exploratory drilling.
