In January 2026, the average credit rating of residents of Tatarstan was 738 points, which is one point lower than in the same month last year.
This data is provided by the United Credit Bureau, reports RBC. Despite being close to last year's level, the republic did not make it into the top ten, sharing 13th place with Ryazan, Kaluga, and Kaliningrad regions. In the Volga Federal District, Tatarstan ranked fifth, falling behind Chuvashia (3rd place in Russia with 767 points), Udmurtia (754 points), Nizhny Novgorod region (746 points), and Mordovia (744 points). However, in the capital of the republic, things are noticeably better. The credit rating of residents of Kazan reached 759 points by the end of January. This figure was the highest among all million-plus cities in the Volga Federal District, surpassing Nizhny Novgorod (754 points), Ufa (748), Perm (733), and Samara (730). Nikolai Filippov, the director of risk management methodology at the United Credit Bureau, explained the difference between the capital and the regions by economic factors: in large cities, the income of the population is higher and more stable, which contributes to active lending and timely debt repayment. For the entire year of 2025, the credit rating of Tatarstan residents remained at 737 points, with this indicator placing the republic 16th in Russia. In January 2026, 76.4 thousand loans were issued in Tatarstan for a total of 28.7 billion rubles. Compared to December of last year, the number of loans decreased by 22 percent, and their volume decreased by 45 percent. In terms of lending volume, the region ranked fifth in the country: for every hundred residents, there were two new loans. It was previously reported that Tatarstan entered the top 5 regions of the Russian Federation in terms of the number of self-restrictions on loans. Just in January 2026, 36.1 thousand self-restrictions on obtaining loans and credits were established in Tatarstan.
