Residents of the republic will meet the holiday weekend in Tatarstan with harsh winter weather. Snow, blizzards, and strong winds are expected in the republic on March 7 and 8.
According to the forecast from the Hydrometeorological Center of RT, snow, blizzards, and strong winds are expected on March 7 and 8, with nighttime temperatures dropping to -21 degrees during clearings. During the day on Saturday, thermometers will show between -3 and -8 degrees, while on Sunday, March 8, daytime temperatures will range from -11 to -16°C, reports RBC. "Since the beginning of the calendar spring, weather processes in Tatarstan have been influenced by alternating cyclones and rear ridges. Unstable weather with fluctuations in meteorological parameters and mixed precipitation is observed," said the Hydrometeorological Center of RT. It will be particularly cold at the beginning of next week. On the night of March 9, temperatures are expected to range from -22 to -27 degrees, with daytime temperatures between -15 and -20°C. Forecasters associate such unstable weather with the influence of alternating cyclones and rear ridges. At the beginning of March, the temperature background was 4-6 degrees above normal, but then it sharply changed to colder weather – on the night of March 5, temperatures were recorded as low as -23 degrees in some areas. According to the "Yandex. Weather" service, the forecast for Kazan is no less severe. On International Women's Day, temperatures are expected to reach -18 degrees, but due to the wind, it will feel like -24°C. The night of March 9 will be the coldest: real temperatures will drop to -21 degrees and possibly -27 degrees considering the wind. As previously reported by Sergey Chankin, head of the civil protection department of the city administration, spring this year may arrive earlier than usual, but it will be changeable. According to experts, by the second decade of March, air temperatures will begin to rise, and by the third, "daytime temperatures will transition to the positive zone and reach +8 degrees by the end of the month." It is worth noting that the winter of 2026 in Kazan set a record for snowfall: 89 mm of precipitation fell in February, which is almost 2.5 times the norm.
