According to the data from the conducted study, the top three most popular destinations for holiday bookings included St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kazan.
During the holiday period from March 7 to 9, Russians became 40 percent more active in booking short-term accommodation compared to the same period last year. This data is provided by TASS, citing a study from the service "Sutochno.ru." Analysts attribute the sharp increase to longer weekends this year. "The strong growth is due to the longer weekends," the company explained. The top three most popular destinations included St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kazan. The top ten also featured Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Minsk, Kaliningrad, and Novosibirsk. The largest jump in demand compared to last year was recorded in Krasnodar and Yaroslavl – approximately 30 percent. The average rental cost for accommodation on these dates, according to experts' calculations, was 5,000 rubles per day, which is 10 percent higher than last year's figure. Tourists typically book accommodation for three days, spending about 15,000 rubles on rent. It is worth noting that analysts had previously predicted that Kazan would be in the top 5 cities in Russia for trips on March 8. It was also reported earlier that the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan was included in the list of the most popular destinations for travelers in spring with a budget of up to 100,000 rubles. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST). According to experts, excursion tours to Kazan for two people, including flights and hotel accommodation, start from 48,900 rubles. This, as experts note, makes the city an attractive alternative to popular southern resorts.
