Today, the inclusive center "Simurg" launched a free online course in Kazan for children with mental disabilities titled "Programming for Special Minds." A total of 107 applications have been submitted for participation – all children will be able to count on the support of mentors. The start of the course coincides with World Autism Awareness Day. The program will allow children to acquire basic digital skills, develop attention, memory, logical thinking, and take their first steps in the IT field. The project has generated significant interest among residents: 107 applications were received for participation, the organizers reported. All children will receive individual feedback from IT experts and support from mentors throughout the training. The program consists of two modules. In the first, children will learn the basics of visual programming in Scratch. They will get acquainted with the fundamentals of coding: repeating steps in the program, completing interesting tasks, and creating their first mini-projects – from simple animations to small games. In the second module, young residents of Kazan will take their first steps in programming with HTML and CSS. Children will learn to create their own web pages, add text and images to websites, and style them attractively.
The course materials are available to the public, the organizers noted.
