In the Kukmor district, the dismantling of the oldest wooden mosque has been completed.
In the village of Asan-Yelga in the Kukmor district, one of the key stages of the restoration of the oldest wooden mosque in Tatarstan, built in 1742, has been completed. Specialists dismantled its log structure and transported it to the industrial park in Sokury, where restoration work will continue.
In the future, restorers will need to replace damaged elements of the log structure, restore the lower crowns and ceiling beams, as well as repair window casings, cornices, and individual parts of window and door constructions.
At the same time, work has already begun in Asan-Yelga to restore the mosque's foundation. After all stages of restoration are completed, the updated log structure is planned to be returned to its historical location.
The Republic of Tatarstan's Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage announced the start of restoration work on May 7. The project is funded both by state funds and as part of the charitable initiative "Preserving Together," to which anyone can join.
